Are Developers Paying Property Taxes?

The Denver Post ran another story on metro districts on February 15thon how nearly a dozen metro districts are delinquent in paying their own property tax bills on properties they own. A majority of these are in Adams County. Down south North Pine Vistas Metro District #1 in Castle Pines which is the master district for North Pine Vistas #2 and #3 is delinquent on nearly two dozen properties it owns.Public officials interviewed by the Post are concerned that developers are not paying their fair share of taxes owed. Brighton Mayor Gregory Mills said, "The city has no jurisdiction over the decision a property owner makes about payment of property taxes."In other words the town or city can't force the developer to pay their taxes.
