This story is from my friend Jonathan Manske whom I have hired to help me retrain my brain and my thinking and Jonathan has spoken many times at my Business Success Lunches. Jonathan writes a great daily blog that I subscribe to and I encourage you to do so as well.
"Rivers don't flow in a straight line from point A to point B. They curve, meander, and wander. But they keep flowing and the water (sooner or later) gets to the ocean.
We so desperately want our lives to flow in those straight lines from point A to point B. But that is seldom (if ever) the case.
How did you get to where you are now (in any area of your life)? It wasn't a straight line. It was a wandering and curving journey.
We'd be well served to remember the nature of our journeys, learn to enjoy the curves, and just keep flowing, just keep making progress - or we can get stressed out that we aren't experiencing that illusionary linear progress."
